Kirche Maria Eich, Planegg (church)
Evaluating the spatial structure was the main idea of revitalizing the sanctuary Maria Eich in Planegg. The transverse orientation caused by the side wings was balanced by a stronger nave and the accent on the altar through focussed daylight and artificial light.
Aiming to support the concentration in devotions, daylight is brought to the inner via light slits. They bring horizontal light whilst hiding the view to the landscape which might deflect. Event the art glass window by Johannes Schreiter intensifies this effect.
The sitting statue of St. Mary as well as the basic lithurgic elements are uniquely enlighted.
The socket lights in the transept remind of candles. In addition to the indirect lighting in the nave this supports the atmosphere of the church.
